Baby Bjorn Carriers
Baby Bjorn are especially well known for their pioneering style of baby carriers. Like a Rucksack or Backpack to put your baby in, only usually fitting on your front rather than your back. This is an implementation of Attachment Parenting, which is quiet simply the notion that keeping baby close during younger years is good both baby and parent.
Popular as ever is the Baby Bjorn Original carrier (featured left) but its close runner up if not new champion is the Baby Bjorn Synergy (featured on many tv shows). Lets take a look at them both for a minute;
Baby Bjorn Synergy Vs Original – Which One Wins?
Baby Bjorn have been manufacturing baby carriers for nearly half a century and hence have expanded their product range to include alternatives to the original design. It can be difficult to choose between a Baby Bjorn Synergy and Original though – so which one should you go for? There’s no right or wrong answer but there are some important differences which you need to be aware of.
The Baby Bjorn Synergy has several advantages over the Original. Firstly, it’s specifically built from materials that allow heat to flow and hence reduces the chance of your baby overheating. The fabrics used also don’t retain moisture which means the carrier will dry quickly after it’s been washed.
Another advantage is that the Synergy comes with a built in storage pocket. As any new parent knows, it doesn’t matter how big your baby bag is you’ll always need more space, so having an extra pocket in the baby carrier can be useful. Also, the Original can only hold baby’s which weigh up to 11kg while the Synergy carrier can hold baby’s up to 12kg.
One of the benefits of the Baby Bjorn Original is that it can be bought in eight different colours. Although aesthetics aren’t top of the priority list when buying products for a new born baby it’s still something to keep in mind.
Even though there are some differences between the Baby Bjorn Synergy and the Original both have very similar goals. For example, both the Synergy and Original are built in a way to maximise your child’s comfort whilst making sure that excess strain isn’t put on your back. They are also both built to support the head and neck of the baby although the Baby Bjorn Synergy allows for greater customisation and adjustment in this area. Also, both come with a strap to adjust the size of the carrier depending on your baby’s growth.
A major difference between the two types of baby carrier is the price. While the Synergy will cost at least $70-$100 (£50-£70) the Original can usually be found for under $50-$70(£30-£50). Such a difference can be an important factor to consider when judged alongside the other large costs of looking after a new baby. If you decide to go for the Synergy then make sure you search for online deals and sales that might save you some money, although be careful who you buy the product from.
